 Now Adana
Hi folks,
oh happy day, our move to Turkey is DEFINITE now! thanks again for the warm welcome in the EiT forum, especially from the Ankara crowd but you have to bear without me as...
We had a "small" change in location, gotta transfer to Adana ! Although most postings suggest that expat life is only worth living in Ankara, Izmir or Istanbul I still have hope that some of you found their way to Adana !!!!!!
Saw Milan's post but assume there's more members living in Adana, right ? Anybody out there...
Oh, if by chance one of you is also long distance running freak, experimental cook, freshman diver or motorcycle-maniac - pls reply!
Cheers,
SundanceKid

Long distance running I like, but I've never done more than 42.2 km and that is not enough to cover Istanbul - Adana ....

Congratulations on movig to Adana.
There are quite a few expats here. I've been here for 11 years and I work in a private school just outside Adana.
My husband is the motorbike freak and is the best cook.
Good luck with the move and let me know when you arrive.

Yes Jonathan, unless you wanna start a Comrades counterpart in Turkey
Have you participated in a marathon in Turkey already ? Have been looking on the www for a competition this year but found only one, Öger Marathon Antalya. Either not a popular sport or maybe my web research qualities suck

Why run when you can drive?

Check the website http://www.maratonturk.com for the Turkish running events (at the bottom of the page). Some EiT'ers participate to the 15 km and marathon held in Istanbul each year.

Hi Jan,
cool, wouldn't have found that by simple web search ! Bit messy so your remark "(at the bottom of the page)" came handy !!
Dank je wel (guess your Oranje-Shirt revealed your origin ?)

Hallo Sundance,
We're in Adana too. I'm somewhat of a cooking freak and we have a Harley here.

sorry for the delayed answer, hadn't come back here for a while.
Yes quite a few of us attend the IST 15km (around 10 or so) and last year at least I know of one person and in 2006 some 5 or so who did the 42 in Istanbul. But unless you need it for your collection, it is a bit a frustrating Marathon: few competitors, but high quality field (50 finisher sub 2:30h, that is 20 more than at the NYC Marathon 1 week later!)
Have fun on the run!
And don't forget: "nach dem Rennen ist vor dem Rennen!"

Serendipity,
sounds good. Let's meet once we're in Adana and our place/kitchen is equipped. Currently looking for appartment. General opinion is search via internet results in rip-off but don't wann waste time either until we're there. Did you find a place yourself or did you kindly get one offered by company ??
Jonathan,
good to hear that there's more running aficionados around! Already a related forum on EiT ?
50 finishers under 2:30 is quite impressive! Am still on the road for an hour when these guys already enjoy a massage
Already thrilled to discover some new routes in Adana and to get used to the odd temperature !
