Post Ankara driving
All I can say is what a blinking nightmare. There were no signs for sehir merkezi so it was difficult getting in if it wasnt for FD and monkeyboy.
Also getting out......couldnt find any signs for Istanbul or Cevreyolu and ended up on the road going to Eskisehir. Took me over an hour to get out and back onto the TEM.
Also whats with those roundabouts there? I counted a 9 cars side by side waiting at lights to get into a 2 lane road.
Apart from that there is nothing else to moan about Ankara.

yea the roundabouts are shit down here, no proper traffic signs and basically the law of the jungle prevails but at least we get to where we want in less than an hour.

ps sorry to hear you got lost

Funny story happened half an hour ago whilst I was on my way home. I live in Tunali and it has one of the deadliest uturns in Ankara, its a real bitch especially in the mornings coz you have traffic and nothing has been done about it for years.

Anyway so I'm almost home just have to take that uturn and then bam the tofas infront of me slams on the brakes and 2 massive guys charge out of the car. Everyones like what the.. only to see them leave the car and start chasing after this other car (which now that I'm thinking of it probably honked at them and they got pissed). Traffic was backed up and everyone was waiting for these 2 buggers to come back.

So finally they come back and theyre giving me the "look" you know the one thats like "if you say a word you'll have my fist up your face", and despite being a loudmouth and a hardball when it comes to situations like this, I chose to keep silent

in these kind of situations, usually hunking the horn when the brawlers don't look and then blame the cars behind me works well

A funny story happened to me...it was 2 weeks before....I was in Eryaman for a dinner...and for getting back I should have gotten out Eryaman but I couldn't...because there was no signs indicating city centre...so about half an hour I was driving in Eryaman trying to get out of it....finally I saw the sign indicating Istanbul Road....I turned to this road...I thought that it was the same road that I took on my way to Eryaman...BUT I was wrong because this way was taking me to Istanbul:)and it was 2 am when I was at home...it is difficult to get back if you're on a road which you take to Istanbul....:))
