 English speaking salons?
Any one know if any salons in Ankara have English speaking stylists - or semi English speaking... I need to cover my greys
but don't want to end up with fire engine red hair!

I was unable to find any English speaking stylists in Istanbul..had to take my hubby with me to Tony & Guy's a few times to explain what I wanted. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you good luck with your quest!

well no husband here, but perhaps that would have worked better. I took a friend last time for a cut and color. I was able to live with the color, even though it was darker than I wanted... but the cut... we said a little... he went to town... I had bangs for the first time in my life... still growing them out... for curly hair, bangs are not the best thing (if there was an emoticon with frizzy hair, this is where it would go)
... oh and the razor he took to my hair... 80's flashback... though I will say, all blown out it looked GREAT, but who can repeat that? not me...

Perhaps you could bring a magazine to the salon showing your fav hairstyles and colour. That's what I did (just in case my husband was not very helpful with it). I got one of those hairstyle magazines and showed the stylist every picture I liked. He totally got me! That could be an option for you as well. And speaking of Tony & Guy, they opened a branch in Ankara, so you might want to check it out. Here's the address: Eskisehir Yolu 7. km, Cepa Alisveris Merkezi, Kat 2, No 69 - Cankaya. Tel. 0312 219 59 19 and 0312 219 59 69. You could try your luck, give them a call and ask if anyone out there speaks any English

Toni and Guy in Ankara is great, it is really the first place I have found where I get exactly what I want. I have been twice for color (once for highlights and once for all over) and was very happy both times. I go to Yusuf, who doesn't speak english (I take my husband for translation) but last weekend I was there and there was a man (manager I think) who was able to speak english. But be prepared to pay for it! For a cut and color it was 270 YTL...more for highlights. The cut is 80, and color starts at 120, depending on length, etc. A bit outrageous, but again, for some of the horrors I've had, I have finally decided it's worth it!

I forgot to mention, the first time I went for a cut, at the end he filled out a card with a bunch check boxes about the type of cut (classic bob/transient length, square layers, round layers, etc, etc), so the next time I could get the same cut. I didn't test it by using the card the next time (just asked for the same cut as I had), but I thought it was a nice touch anyways.
