 Rainfall
Crikey when it rains in Ankara it rains...
I was there on fri 22 sept, Id been holiday in Akcokoca.
Happened to stop off at Abant lake and the rain started falling around 5pm, driving back along the e-8o in some of the heaviest rain I have ever known. Arriving back at Ankara which was easily under 6" of water, it was like driving through a river.
All good fun though
A piccy at Bolu before the heavens opened

Ah yes the countryside...
I drove along the coast from acokaca to zonguldak and the geology in the cliffs is amazing, very much like the south coast of England.
The difference between north turkey and south turkey is quite big.

Big changes in roadworks. You bloody well bet there has been. Life has come to a standstill. But this is totally understandable from the bloke who destroyed our pre-match pub. In my opinion Ankara Mayor Melih Gokcek is a complete arsehole.
Many people may have opinions on whether the going back to school time was a good opportununity to start major road works on Ataturk Blvd. but for me I will never forget the fact that he closed down my favourite pre-match pub. He did so of course with the idea of making Genclik Park more family friendly. Bullshit mate. You just don't want all of your so-scared so-unworldly headscarfed girlfriend voters from ever coming across real people. If anything really scares me about Turkey, it is people like Melih Gokcek, and all those who vote for him (and therefore I am very scared about this country).
I remember the shock that hit Turkey in 1994 when the Islamists took control of Istanbul and Ankara municipalities. The feeling was somewhat "how the bloody hell did they do it". Now, the feeling is.........well... I'm sure RSA has a swear word/phrase to describe it.
