Post Expats thin on the ground in Antalya?
Having a ton of trouble contacting any English speaking expats in the Antalya region, especially close to Finike. I posted a part time job, flexible and well paid, and got a very poor response. I was totally surprised. This site is usually packed with pleas from desperate expats looking for jobs to keep them off the streets. Is it only Istanbul? Hello, hello...anyone out there?

I cannot think that sane people with a need for money and employment would think, "you know i will go to a tourist resort in February or March to get a job" i am assuming most people living at the moment in Antalya would be fairly financially independent and not particularly looking to work. I do not know that much about Antalya so i might be wrong but i would assume that Istanbul has much more of a year round activity and employment culture than Antalya.

That's not what he's saying. In fact, his is a perfect reason for the predicament you seem to be in.

Why is everyone so defensive today?

...well that would be because I don't need a lecture. what I need is to find a responsible person who yes, would be fairly well settled and financially sound, but is perhaps bored and needs a hobby, ie expat wife of working Turk. Have seen plenty of such posts in the past, so where are they now?

Why dont you then advertise locally in the area, places expats regularly hang out etc. Have you tried MyMerhaba, you might get a higher Antalya contingient there?

There are plenty of expats in Antalya, coming from all corners of Europe. We all appear to be happy with our lives. :D

I did not realise that it was compulsory to get excited about a job which was advertised if we were not interested in applying.

It is good to know that all expats living in Antalya are prospering and couldn't do with a bit of extra cash...really, I am pleased...I lived there for a couple of years, where were you all then...eh? Well it was long before any expat networking sites were established. If necessary we will advertise locally, sorry, but I am just so used to the Istanbul crowd whinning about not having enough work...perhaps we should send them all to Antalya!

Seriously, put out the word...it is a fun job, you pretty much make your own hours and get paid in $. All you need is to be reliable, live near Finike, be a clued in, know something about the area and be pleasant - not hard... I would have thought.

I look forward to some "constructive" advice...

Post Looking for work
I've just joined the club and having a look around when I came across your old posting. I'm planning to settle down in the Kas/Finike area (around April), with my partner and will both be looking for work. Whether it's part time or full time we'd be happy to be considered. If you are still looking for good people please let me know or pass my details on to any of your contacts.

All the best

Post Looking for work
Following my last post.........I am now considering anywhere on the southern coast, probably starting in the Izmir region since this is where my stuff will get shipped to, eventually, then look at the options. So far looking good. Possible web site promotion for someone, house guardian during winter and driving guests back to airport. Because I am multi talented I will consider most opportunities and not necessarily always for cash (although a little now and then would be nice). I'll strike a deal, barter even. Gissajob!
