Thought it might be time to promote a bit the Anatolian Side:

Zansibar
Something of a hidden champion. It is located in Caddebostan with a very nice sea view.
The huge terrace invites for a cozy brunch or a nice café latte. Try the excellent Tarte Tatin (apple cake).
Nighttime the wooden Turkish villa invites to an international delicious menu. Quite relaxing and peaceful place.

In summertime reservation is required for a table next to the window and during weekends. It is open everyday,
except Mondays, between 10:00-24:00 and car parking is no problem.

Beer index: Effes (glass) 8YTL
Wine index: Selection (bottle) 65 YTL
Maincourse: 15-30 YTL

good call - its about time we had a rerun of the peasant Anatolian side versus exciting sophisticated European side debate. I hope I haven't betrayed any biases or anything (insert sarcasm emoticon).

Zansibar - worth the effort - summer on the sahil yolu and kalamiş marina is worth the effort...

I've lived in the 'City of the Blind' as it used to be known for the last 2 years and am now moving across the water to Etiler and back to errr....exciting sophistication??? :)

Is there a cultural re-ıntegration program or should I just turn up to the EıT meets and get pissed?? sounds like a plan

happy days, FBT

pleasant would be my choice of words...... :D really, the anatolian side presents civilization whereas on the European side there are masses of KRO's running around for the most part (except for some neighborhoods, such as bebek, ortaköy etc. which are breathtakingly beautiful)

Indeed, there are some worthy places way out East. True Blue is great on a summer night or for Sunday brunch. It seems there are plenty of ex-pats too so I say it's about time for an Asian side meet-up. Anyone with me?
