Post always welcome!
Amandakay, nice to have met you, too. And thanks for the compliment. Stop by anytime; if I'm not there, just call me. Also, housesitting for a week could be an option unless I get sudden guests.

dekolte -- I emailed them twice with no reply. Maybe I need to stop by your place to get your help making a phone call. By the way I keep forgetting to give you the postcard from Chicago that I didn't mail.

If/when we have our Sultanahmet mini get-together, we can check out Verjen's place before or after heading for some bars/clubs in the area. I am already curious about the pizzas there, from what I've read here :) Maybe this Friday or Saturday ?

Cheers,

Cem

Just let me know and I'll play tour guide. Whatever day anyone wants is good. Maybe pizza first and then bar hopping -- as long as someone walks me part-way home! I also know a finest-kind coffee bar.

dekolte, if you can call, that would be great. I don't know why they give the email addesss if they don't want to reply. I can put a stamp on the postcard if you like. Maybe I'll forget to mail it again when next I go!!!!!

dekolte -- yep, I found a phone number and will call. We do deliver, but with Tarih having to do it on the motorscooter, that leaves me taking care of the shop and making the pizza. His is definitely better, but I'll get the finer points with more practice. Actually, I like doing the walking distance deliveries.

Nesspecial - sorry to have missed you. I'm usually there between 4 pm & 8pm but sometimes am doing errands. My business partner and chief chef sometimes tells me that someone came by, but he never tells me who! If you know a day ahead, let me know & I'll be sure to be there. Did that today & stayed late to meet a newcomer to the forum.

Verjen--keep me posted about housesitting- I would obviously be grateful, but would not want to impose.

AmandaKay. PM me to remind about housesitting. I'm not sure yet about the time frame.

Finally went to Pidos last night...

It was virtually empty, good menu selection, food was well made, not particularly expensive and more/better wines on offer than the below.

Best places so far for me with probably the same standard of food and only slight variations on price:
Otto in Tünel - noisy cool, still so popular you need to book
Miss Pizza in Cihangir - relaxed cool, no need to book in the week
Pizzeria Pidos in Taksim - quiet traditional cool, which can be good if you want a chat or want to be loud and not have any competition

A Sunday's snow storm must be the perfect timing to visit a Pizza Palace owned by Verjen. But I guess any other day is also suitable.

There's not much to add to the previous positive reviews - other than: The scampi pizza was perfect and is a must, simply delicious.

Gee whiz, Uta -- can't you get a litlle bit more positive?????? It was a pleasure hosting you. We may slowly be going back to Arlo Guthries's "You can get every thing you want at Alice's Restaurant." Just substitute Vergen's" ...

And by the by Amanda Kay is still in touch.
