Post FADO
I think I've seen negative reviews about FADO on this forum before, but I have to say we had a first rate piss-up tonight. Saw Liz and Dave from Nexus night as well.

A group of 20 of my colleagues (all expats--who seem to go there often) got together, three of them played all the music, Yiannis (owner? manager?) is someone I know from hash House Harriers, the bar staff was friendly, sometimes dancing with us (but never too close to the women) or running around the street outside bouncing off the walls like excited children. They were a riot.

Maybe it was because we took over the joint or because my colleagues go there often, but it was super.

I think there is also a boycott of that place after what they did to one of the ex managers. Charly knows more but the boycott is quite well known.

There is indeed a boycott of the place. Eddie, one of the now former co-owners, was brutally assaulted, resulting in a week-long hospital stay and being told to never return to the premises.

Yeah there is a boycott of the place. Eddie had the management contract for Fado and Yianni was his manager. The owners are typical shady Turkish-style 'business' men. Actions speak louder than anything humane let alone professional. I hear they treated the former tenants, James Joyce, in a similar way.

We used to love the place but now won't touch it with a barge-poll. Get a foreigner in, get the clientele, then boot him out. :x

Terrible stuff. Most of the stabbings I hear about are in the drugs/gay world. Condolences.

Eddie is fine. Still in Galata. Think he stayed one night in hospital but don't think he'll be running another place in Istanbul.
