(I feel like I might get shot for this review...)
Last night I finally went to 5.Kat.
Now I know how to get to BarBahçe!! I have been there so many times but never knew how I got there. Whichever way it was - it wasn't the short way!Anyway...5.Kat...
A very popular place to go. 3-floor restaurant with a terrace bar and dining area. Reservations recommended at weekends, lovely staff, popular with arty people, enjoy group bookings but you do get restricted to the fixed menu at busy weekends.
Food: Disappointed. Actually very disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high?
Falafel=nice
Stuffed mushrooms=bad cheese (halloumi?)
Quesadillas= OK (served with tahini though?)
Chicken madras=too acidic. Isn't vinegar normally added to a vindaloo at the end?
Beef and noodles=felt too messy, gloopy, not clean enough and not spicy at all after asking for extra hot. Left most of it.
My other friends, whose food I didn't steal, loved theirs. Meat and veg meals. Simple and tasty.
Price: Medium for the food but high for the drinks.
Service: Great. Very patient with my faffy friends. I was dolling the tips out!
Toilets: No paper plus I got stuck in there.
Music: A mixture - international and Turkish.

Marks out of 5: 3.75!
I'll definitely go again but will stick to basic food and nothing internatonal (or as a rule of thumb - nothing that I can cook at home). The view is great and for those who don't get to see a Bosphorous view every day, a really lovely evening out. The birthday girl last night could not stop taking photos (she nearly got thrown over).
