Or if you want similar food to Kırıntı in Nişantaşı but better and without the inflated prices and plastic crowd, go to the original Kırıntı in Moda.

No don't the food is terrible in the Moda one.
The burger buns were crumbly and stale the last time I went there. Its tiny, smelly and doesn't have much other than durum kebabs and burgers.
I go to Kirinti in Nisantasi quite a lot and I'm not plastic.

Sorry you had a bad experience, gilly, but in Istanbul restaurants don't generally exist for 25 years and develop a cult-like following had your experience been the norm. I've never encountered any problems at Kırıntı in Moda so I guess it's a matter of personal taste.
I translated this entry comparing the Kırıntı branches from Ekşi Sozluk (an informal Turkish wikipedia of sorts).
Kırıntı Moda
Style: the cheapest, the most laid-back, the most crowded
Frequented by: people living in the area, loyal customers, the original, ultimate 'Kırıntıcılar' (people who love Kırıntı)
Recommended dish: mantar ve tavuklu dürüm, havuç suyu
Kırıntı Cadde (Bağdat Cd)
Style: the cutest, the most vivacious, the most lively
Frequented by: 'Cadde' (Bağdat Cd) young people, regulars who don't feel like going to Moda
Recommended dish: san marzano, sıcak bacon sandviç
Kırıntı Nişantaşı
Style: the ''in'' place, the crappiest music, American-wannabe waitstaff
Frequented by: high-maintenance Nişantaşı types
Recommended dish: ızgara sebze tabağı

A very subjective review, slightly biased I feel. The author has a gripe with the people more than the restuarant.
Does the site have an English option? I would be interested to go there and read their other reviews to see if all Nisantaşi restaurants are tarnished with the bigot's brush.

The site does not have an English option but you may run across the occasional entry in English.
You are absolutely right the review is biased. Imagine you had a locally-owned little corner pub named McGilly's back in bonny ol' Scotland that had been around for more than a generation where the prices were right, the food and drink were good, and the service and clientele were down to earth and friendly. Mightn't you feel a bit like the owners sold out if they opened a branch in London, tripled the prices, introduced some lame-ass attempt at 'fusion cuisine' with inconsistent service and clientele 180 degrees different than the original? The people who discovered London McGilly's might be satisfied but the original customers might feel a bit let down?
I have been to all 3 Kırıntı branches and the Moda one is my favorite because (in my experience) the food and service is the most consistent there, and the other 2 are way overpriced.

No, why would they. If the original place still existed, charged the same prices and had the same standard of service, why would they feel let down that there's a place on the other continent (a place they think of as having a plastic crowd) charge that crowd triple and have lame-ass waiters. If they did - I call that snobbery. Which is ironic, as I guess that's what the Nısantasi lot are being accused of with the plastic label, right?
I just don't get your point. Those original customers are never going to go there and have to put up with such tasteless Nisantasi types.
I tell you what though, if they did, they would get better food, more choice, more comfortable seating, better waiters that wouldn't grumble about changing a burger that had been served up on stale buns. If that's how the moda crowd get treated then I think they would be pleasantly surprised at Kırıntı Nisantasi.
No its not the 'original Kırıntı' , its better!

Thanks for the recommendation. We went to the Moda one today and liked it. My husband actually left his cell phone on the table and they chased us down the street to return it - that's an added plus in my book!

Question here I ask myself...
what kind of mobile phone was it?
I left my phone and it left me for good...

Afiyet olsun, Sue. There's my first convert to the Moda side. Hey gilly, let's have a running competition to see who can get who on their respective Kırıntı teams!

Is 'squeeky' supposed to be referring to sueakyel, gilly?
If so, she also mentioned that she and her husband liked the Kırıntı in Moda. You say you like Kırıntı in Nişantaşı but never specifically gave details on the food (other than to say it's better than so-and-so place) so what's the difference between her review and yours?

I didn't even read Gilly's whole post to see the "squeeky" reference! Anyway, I was just thanking Burbaco really and saying we liked it, but I guess you just like to tease, Gilly!

Yes, oops I misread her name!
Squeeky - Yes I'm only teasing ...glad you spotted that!
Competition...well...I guess its up to people to decide which they like best, its not about converting people that have never tried both places.
PS No wonder they ran after you with a Motorola - nasty machines!
