Post Pera Thai, Asmali Mescid
Every month or so, me and a friend go walking in a certain district of Istanbul to find something special, something nice, something you couldn't find on the internet or see on tv shows.

This time it was up for Taksim, again, and as we were walking around in Asmali Mescid, we spotted SAF, which, as I remember correctly, has been posted by Pollyanna, a while back.
Looks like a nice place, but we weren't really in the mood for vegetarian food, and while we were just thinking of turning in to a side street, I spotted Pera Thai at the end of the street.

I remembered that a few people, mostly Musulko and Gilly, told me they liked it, so we walked inside and had a very nice meal with a great service.

As a starter, we had crispy calamari, which was quite nice, it got a lot better after adding spices to it.

main dishes were:
Crispy chicken with cashew nuts, fresh ginger and chili.
Which was great, but A LOT! I would think that 4 people could easily fill up on that.
Red curry with beef, garnished with kafir lime leaves, which was just great.
One of the nicest curry's I had in a very long time. Not quite hot enough, though we did ask for acili.

It isn't cheap, but not extreme, either. Especially for this kind of curry.

i have eaten at pera thai as well and although its pretty good for thai-outside-of-thailand food..
i found the veggie-friendly menu to be lacking considerably
(didnt like the padthai very much)
and yes.. its kinda pricey
but worth it for something different!

Post Upcoming reviews.........................
Cequirk - Write us a review of Cok Cok! Otherwise know as Cok Small...
The feedback I hear is that it's good on the food side but slightly expensive (welcome to Istanbul!)

Looking for people to start reviewing clubs too and bars..................................
How about Dans and Ghetto!?

Dans is up by the Bogaz electric place in Taksim and has seen many reincarnations.
Ghetto is just across from the British Consulate. That hot sax bloke's joint - Ilhan E. His Nublu (Istanbul) was around last year.
Both places should be more accessible once the polish has worn off from the celebrity butt rubbing.
