I love sushi, but I havent ventured into any Istanbul establishments yet. Recommendations? Value sushi to be had anywhere?

Haven't been but read reviews on it - meant to be good, large menu with so-so prices. Used to be elsewhere in Beyoglu so has a reputation. TimeOut said it has a Japanese tea garden too. Sounds lovely.

walking towards nisantasi from taksim square is a sushi place on the right. prices were ridiculous for a small portion of rice and salmon, but i'm guessing it's standard, being that this is istanbul and not vancouver had sushi at a party once, came from a chain restaurant and cant remember the name. it was mediocre, but appreciated.

Hi guys, Iv been to many sushi resturants here, but so far the best was the Japanese resturant next to Hyatt Regency Yutaka (ex-Takarabune) , the prices are bit high (average high) costs 50-100 per person. BUT WORTH IT
ITS A MUST TRY

Hmmm, why don't you make Sushi by your own? It's not very complicated, I've done it several times for friends and I can't even cook noodles the right way despite everything else If one can get the special Sushi rice in Istanbul, we could make it together at the next meet up or else, when I'm in Istanbul...

my better half did a few times: really good!
Not as good as the better sushi places, but better then most! You wonder why sushi cooks in japan need 7 years of training.

Well, in any event, I would be up for some sushi, homemade or not.

Hi there, I had more than great sushi yesterday in Mori which is in Mayadrom carsi. Great food, much better than Yutaka next to Hyatt Regency. About 60 YTL per person.

 Too late, I know.
1. Yutaka(Hyatt)
Hyatt doesn't own this nice restaurant, a Japanese cook runs this place, you can be served by the owner sometimes, get a seat at the bar after 8 o'clock.
- Price is a bit high. 50 dollars can be enough for sushi, but even 200 dollars can be short for sashimi.
- Ambience is just great. Nice and quiet, you can also see garden through the window.
- Waiters are friendly and fast. The cashier is ok but no indirim.
- Bonus; If you like Gimchi(Korean pickled lettuce or turnip) you can ask for it. It's on the menu but often they don't charge.
2. Ninja(Taksim)
- Price is a bit lower than Yutaka. 48 dollars for 60 pcs of sushi(enough for 2 people), but still 200 dollars can be short for sashimi. I don't think I can ever find a Japanese restaurant where I can have sashimi as much as I want.
- Ambience is ok, quiet, Japanese style partition. Very good for a secret meeting. They sometimes play annoying Japanese songs(Please play some nice Japanese music, you know there're a lot)
- Waitress are gorgeous. Very beautiful Turkish and Japanese girls are serving here. The cashier is very kind. You get cash indirim.
- Udon is very nice here, but sometimes they're out of prawns, can you imagine you eat Tempura Udon without fried prawn!
3. Udonya(Point hotel)
- Price is almost same as Ninja.
- Amnience is ok, but sometimes it gets very loud. Many social gathering are happening here, mostly Japanese and Koreans.
- Waiter and waitress are ok, but they go nasty sometimes especially when you hesitate to choose what you want.
- Udon is extremely nice sometimes but sometimes ... yuk. I think they're sometimes out of gashiobuki powder(dried tuna powder).
4. Hi sushi(Divan hotel)
- Price is almost same as Ninja.
- Ambience is...like that of fastfood place.
- Waiter and waitress are unfriendly and lazy. You hardly get served unless you call them several times.
- Sushi here is ok, but Udon is so bad... I'm sure I can make better udon than that.
- This place is always packed.
5. Sushico(many many)
- Price is a bit cheaper than Ninja or other places but I think can be more expensive than Ninja if you get cash indirim from Ninja.
- Ambience is...varied, depending on which sube you go.
- Waiter and waitress are ok.
- Sushi is ok, but I think this place is better for Thai or Pseudo(people call this fusion I guess?) Chinese than for Sushi.
Never tried Mori. Must do soon.
And I agree that the best way you can enjoy Sushi in this town is making sushi on your own..'cause you can also have sashimi as much as you want!!!
