 Taj Mahal - Indian
The Taj Mahal in Cihangir.
This is not really a restaurant, it's more of a takeaway with a few tables and the decor reflects this so don't expect a full on restaurant experience if you go there. The staff were fine and apart from a few mix ups with our orders (there were 16 of us which is probably the most they've ever had to cope with at one time) were reasonably efficient. The food was ok and I think most people in our party were happy with both the quality and quantity served. The menu is quite good, with a fairly decent choice of main courses (although one person did suggest that most meals are based on one prepared sauce).
I doubt I'd go there again as a restaurant, mostly because of the "takeaway" atmosphere but if I were in the area and fancied a curry, or if I lived in the area and wanted a takeaway I'd happily use them again.
Out of 10 I'd give it 7.

Fair comment. Not a place I'd go for a sit-down but its great for a take-away.
7 marks better than Musafir then.

I haven't been to Musafir, so I can't comment.
It's rubbish though.

Food was nice: The mixed starter plate for 5 YTL was fine, the Chicken Tikka Mas. was spicy. The air in there is a nightmare though, we all smelled like fast-food staff afterwards. I found service to be quick. The Mango Lassi for 4,50 lacked the mango in it, must have been a "sade" one. Certainly no restaurant/dinner athmosphere, but if hungry and in a hurry still ok. Modest prices.

you found the service to be quick?
That's the only complaint I heard that night.
I would also like to add that the waitress was looking totally bored and irritated sometimes.

I think you should remember that it is really a takeaway place that was taken over by 16 rather hungry people, in that context I thought it was fine .... don't forget they only have one chef. I also thought the waitress coped rather well, you can't expect her to have been as well trained as in a proper restaurant anyway, she usually only takes orders over the phone or from people who drop in.

Does anyone know a good Indian restaurant in the Asian side of town? I still look for one but the only Indian I found is still the one near Sultanahmet Mosque. A bit far for just a dinner, so an Indian restaurant on the Asian side would be a great help.

 Racon ve Samosa
There is a place on Bar Street in Kadikoy called Racon ve Samosa which has a few Indian dishes, the owners are a really nice turkish-american couple. I don't know if it's authentic because I've never eaten anywhere else, but *I*like it....

 Taj Mahal - Indian
Taj Mahal, Musafir etc havent been to any of them simply because I know I wont be getting anything authentic there. Tried at Besinci Kat once and thats enough. Nothing to rave about.
Gilly - the cockroaches in Musafir miss u. hee hee

Sheri, Great minds think alike. Dubb's facelifting is underway. It is now getting bigger and better. They have some plans to cater authentic / aromatic indian cuisines for expats. They already have 10% discount system and now let me negotiate for 20% on food.
