Post Tunel Art: awesome veggie place with view and AMBIANCE!
tunel art has:
super-but-not-over-the-top-friendly, english-speaking staff
tasty vegetarian food
food is not turkish: it's got some thai influences
view of the golden horn
murals on walls, mosaic tables, cool floor, cool metal work on tables and chairs
not too pricey: around 15ytl for an entree, 30ytl for a bottle of wine, 15ytl for a mojito if i'm not wrong

they're open tues-sat from 17:00--when you go there, there's no sign, you just ring the doorbell and say you're there for the cafe and the'll buzz you in. it's on the top floor. the address is nergis sokak tunel ishani no:6/5 istanbul/beyoglu. it's just past tunel, there's a stairway going down.

http://tunelartrestorant.tripod.com/ is their website

Ah this is Ludwig's place, organises the Tünel art festival. Nice guy.
Thought this place was more non-business orientated/friends of friends only... :?:

I don't know, I went there with friends and they met the guy for the first time so I didn't know if it's exclusive. In that case, disregard my post! :-)

Saf, in Asmali Mescit, great place. Sadly, no meat.
Zencefil, behind the French cultural centre, their Jack Daniels was good, didn't eat anything, though.

Zencefil has been my favourite cafe in the world for years...not simply because of the delicious veggie food (simply crave for the vegetable salad every day of the year) but because of great memories of first (and last) year of university here in Ist. I didn't go much to classes as you can imagine but hung out with friends at Zencefil, the old tiny place where it used to be and had great conversations, great drinks, great food, great friends, amazing & unforgettable times.

Saf is also amazing, the best raw vegan food I've had in ages. You really experience the sense discovering new tastes and textures in your mouth (though that sentence kind of sounds perverted, I do mean it!)

The discovery continues....
