Newly opened bar in Beşiktaş with a rarity on the european side. Nargile AND beer!! :D Have been there with the likes of Gilly,JC,CH and Brightbear. I believe the translation is something lile 'Gypsy tent'. It has wall to ceiling 'otantik' carpeting and wall hangings, ottoman style seating and live music at weekends (if that tickles your fancy)

The service is friendly, though sometimes slow but I'm used to that by now. It's a very different venue from the run of the mill and an unexpected sight in the centre of town. Not a bar to get blindingly drunk with a wide selection of drinks.Rather a chill out place with traditional,(turk and yabancı)pop, arabesque, folk type music in the background.I actually love it there and im pretty sure Gilly and co enjoyed the 'ambience'

Prices are quite cheap at the moment.Beers are 4mil for a small beer.Food (snack type) is dirt cheap as they are trying to attract a student crowd in the daytime.

Located near the fish market in Beşiktaş. Face MacDonalds, turn right and Cıtır pub is facing you on the corner.Turn left towards the fish market, past the BKM theatre.Walk straight and you will hit a 'Nike' shoe shop.Look to your right and up the steps. You're there!

Was indeed good (and offering the rare but pleasurable combination of nargile and beer). :D

In fact I fancy spending Saturday afternoon there gently supping beer, puffing on nargile and playing tavla. Anyone else up for this?

guys, i hear you what you are saying about this place! we found similar place 'Cafe Kava' in Ankara. alas they don't have beer  but they have a very nice big mug of coffee, great taste and beats Starbucks on price hands-down. besides it was said that having non-alcoholic beverages keep you more sharp playing the numerous games they have.

prices are good and the food is plenty and of a good quality as well. last time we spend 6 hours and only spend 20YTL each including food 8) guess what! not only taught we two newbies how to play tavla but we played monopoly as well  hence the six hours (that game takes forever to wrap up).

further we had been given two complimentary pieces of cheese cake (about half the cake) and when we wanted to leave they insisted we have another bardak cay on the house. all i can say it was just one of those Sunday afternoons where outside it was pissing down rain and we needed an easy afternoon the day after the night before

Sounds excellent FD :D : there's nothing better on a miserable winter's afternoon than games in cosy surroundings. The beer is a bonus.

Will PM you, Monkey, and text you on Saturday. I am definitely going to the Dekolte party after the curry so would like to be thoroughly hammered by the time I arrive (hence the afternoon drinking plot).

Perhaps we should inject a bit of capitalism into EIT and have a monopoly tournament? Will consider another thread...
