 Annie Proulx
It was an Annie Proulx weekend this weekend as I read "Postcards," and finished "Bad Dirt: Wyoming Stories." I liked them both, though I especially enjoyed the latter. Short stories are a whole different art form, and I love discovering great new work in the format. I've been writing a few short stories of my own for a while now; but, suffice to say, O. Henry is not losing any sleep over them (and not just because he's dead).

I read 'Postcards' many years ago and enjoyed the idea of it but found it to be a spiral of depression. Can't say it is a light summer read but well written nonetheless.... Have read a few of her books but only truly enjoyed 'The Shipping News' and the movie to match (helped that parts of the movie were filmed down the road from my parents house in Canada)
