Post Comics?
I've only been here for three weeks, and I'm already getting twitchy because I can't get my weekly comics fix. It's a dirty secret of mine, but I love comics (x-men, avengers, 100 bullets etc). Does anyone know if there's a comic shop in Istanbul? I checked the web, but no joy. I don't want to pre-order, 'cos I don't know what my budget will stretch to yet. If anyone can help, I'll buy you a big beer.

Down Istiklal I recall there was a bookshop that also did comics but can't remember the name of it. I think it was midway between the road to the uk embassy and the Tunel. The only problem is that they may well be in Turkish.

I've seen a couple in Kadikoy but they seem only to Turkish language publications. Maybe if you speak to owner they can point you in the right direction(?)Other than that possibly the best bet is to search the second hand bookstores (Beyoglu and Kadikoy) for vintage editions and get your fix that way.

If you want directions to a shop in Kadikoy pm me.

Hrrrrrr, used to cherish my collection of 3000 plus comics of which roughly 1200 vintage ones. Sadly lost them all whilst moving once... the agony of loosing them (more then 12 years ago) still haunts me in my dreams.

Never got round to start again...way to painfull! [-o{

Don't know about the others, but I definitely qualify as a comic nerd. When I moved here, I had to leave my enormous collection in the UK with a trusted friend. His wife isn't too happy about 3000+ comics cluttering up their flat. He's also started reading them, so I think I've inadvertantly caused a few arguments.

They have French comics in the Ataturk library in Taksim Square - maybe there are some English ones too.
Try Robinson Crusoe (maybe the shop GB is on about) http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/Wher ... rusoe.html
Wonder whether the bookshop down towards 45/Cihangir in Galatasaray sells comics - loads of old mags. I'll keep an eye out for you.

There are shit loads of places on the European side that sell not only Marvel and DC comics, but also other , more independent titles.

I, too, am a comic book nerd, by the way. That should not surprise anyone who's met me, mind you (because of the spider-man tattoo on my balls).

"Gerekli Seyler," also mentioned earlier, is the main one. The bigger book stores in the main shopping centres also carry the more popular titles. There are little shops that sell vintage comics around the Grand Bazaar, in "Sahaflar Carsisi (Second-hand Books Bazaar), as well as in Kadikoy.

And drop me a pm, and I'll let you in on a rather savoir-faire way of getting hold of the most recent titles. Strangely enough, it involves the interweb.
