 Does Amazon deliver here?
Does anybody order books from Amazon to be delivered here? Any good / bad reports will be welcome. Also looking for the Droon series of books for children. Any ideas?

thanks for the quick reply. Appreciated. Do they deliver to your house or do you have to collect them from the post-office?

they deliver to your house since they will use a courier. if you can avoid it dont get packages sent to central post office. i believe its a mission to go and get it. I also recommend to have things sent to a business address because all the couriers expect someone to be at home. they come twice and if you arent there you have to go to them.

...keep it under EUR100 though Jonny in one package because of customs - stuff comes within 5 days usually.

hi yakamoz, is biblios.com still active? I tried the URL: http://www.biblios.com - got a 'noone at home' message for the website. Or am I missing part of the address maybe? would appreciate it if you could let me know.

We've ordered from both amazon.com and amazon.co.uk. Both places have delivered to our home without any problems (although the uk service is definitely faster). I generally try to keep the total under $100 or equivalent. Not sure it makes a big difference, but it's worked so far.
Jonny- btw just looked at The French Laundry Cookbook on amazon.com. It's quite expensive ($50+)...and with shipping I'm guessing it will be close to $70. What did you pay for yours here...and where did you find it?

I got it at the bookshop next to Macro in Akmerkez and think it worked out at about $50 too. (My Mum bought it for me though - so I can't be sure.) However, when I bought it, it was the only copy on the shelf and I haven't seen it since. You can always borrow mine for a week or two and copy the stuff you want out of it if you like.

 French Laundry Cookbook
I'll have a look at the bookstore, but I might borrow it if you don't mind! I found an interesting blog of someone who is going through each recipe in the French Laundry Cookbook. It's pretty well done- maybe worth a look: carolcookskeller.blogspot.com

Thanks Kiki but I'm pretty sure I've seen this before - I seem to remember her stinking the kitchen out with the cauliflower panna cotta - which rather put me off. I love cauliflower but can't stand it when it's over-cooked as in this recipe. It literally makes be want to gag.
I've been trying out their oils and powders with some success but some of the main flavours of the oils have been overwhelmed by the olive oil I was using. I eventually got hold of some Canola oil (as the recipes stipulates) and they work exactly as they should. They really do give that something extra. Well worth the effort.

As an avid home chef myself I am curious to know where you do most of your shopping for these not so obvious ingredients in Turkey?
