Post NYT Travel Dispatch: St.Tropez of Turkey
I christened it "St.Tropez of Turkey" actually back in 2003 after my first visit to Turkbuku. Several people called me about this article and I finally read it the other day. FYI.

I heard they call Bodrum itselfe for the turkish answer to french St. Tropez back in 1988.
Still remember how quiet it was in Turkbuku the first times I was there. So few houses and so far away from Bodrum itselfe.

I hate it when they say things like that.
Bodrum is Bodrum and not a rip-off of some other city.
Istanbul is Istanbul and not a rip-off of some other city.

Actually San Trop is more decadent and the yachts are bigger since they have a proper marina. I suppose it's the summer lifestyle and the luxe feel of select beach and night clubs with prices to match is what the writer of the article is citing in comparison with Turkbuku.

My favorite spot in San Tropez is this waterfront cafe where you can people watch and at the back of the building, the little family owned store that sells this awesome nougat that can only be bought there. It's called St.Tropez nougat and it is heavenly!

Don't worry RSA, there can never be a facsimile of Istanbul. Although like my city, San Francisco, it sits on seven hills and is surrounded by water but that's where it all stops. Oh no, not quite. I love them both...
