Thanks Ani....youre the best. i think this link is for the normal banlio...i need the express train info.
Now can anyone explain the bizzare math behind this one:
Express train takes one hour and five minutes to go from Gebze to Haydarpasa. (Stops only five or six times)
Normal banlio train takes one hour and five minutes to go from Gebze to Haydarpasa. (Stops 20 times.)
Mathematics suggests that the "express" train stops for five minutes at each stop, while the banlio stops for only one minute per stop.
So why do they call it the "express train" ???????????
WTF????

Those 'express' trains originate in Adapazarı, Ankara or some other Anatolian location. People travelling on those trains often have luggage and the train does stop longer to accomodate people getting on and off.
They are not much of an 'express' if you are travelling from Gebze to Haydarpaşa, however time is saved if you begin your journey in Adapazarı.
May as well stick with the banliyö. It's cheaper and you can use Akbil.

A few years ago I took that train a few times. Once I got pushed around by some boys as I was getting out and another time I guy exposed himeself to me. Both instances early evening. Wouldnt recommend that train to a woman by herself. Or has it changed?

I commuted on this train every day for months and the biggest problem I encountered was body odor. However, I didn't take the train at night by myself because of the potential for sketchy incidences.

Yeah, i have also taken the banlio many times. During those times, because of my job, i was wearing a suit. i got hassled a few times by beggars because they assumed i had money. But the truth was, at that time i was barely getting by. For the most part though...body odor, especially in summer, is still a fact of pubic transportation. I don't advise any woman to travel alone, but i would say that the train is as safe as any other form of mass transit here in TR.
i dont have much experience with the express train, but the one time i did take it, it seemed to be a bit more elaxed...and you could smoke.
