Post Beautiful picture of Istanbul
Hi, I thought I wanted to share this pic with you - I have used it as desktop wallpaper for some while, and I guess it is rather known anyway. The resolution is worse than google-earth, but its colours are nicer!

Check how dirty/muddy the stream coming (?) from the Black Sea is. What is going on in Kiliyos? Worth discussing: What is the direction of the current? I´d say North to South if you look at the one small island in the Marmara Sea. But it would make more sense to say that Istanbul pollutes the Bosphorus and the water goes North. Help!

Its the currents of the black sea sweeping the sand from the beaches then sending it down the Boz. The main polluter from that pic seems to be the creek by the hippodrome race track.

Geographically the Bosphorus is a bit weird as the currents run both ways. On the top they run from the Black Sea to the Marmara but underneath there are currents running the other way towards the north. There are some places where you can actually see this phenomenomenomom taking place.
