 Carpet washers
I have a bunch of carpets that need to be washed. Does anyone know of carpet washers who will come pick them up, treat them kindly, and deliver them all washed and nice for a reasonable price?
Thanks
CQ

I am in cihangir.
There is a car wash nr my house that does it all the time, but all they do is turn a high pressure hose on them. I can't image that's a good way to do it.

The professional carpet washers do about the same thing as the car wash. High pressure hose, scrub down with a broom, rinse and put out to dry.
The best bet is probably your local car wash. Most of the carpet washers cater to the trade, so to pick up from a home they'll charge an arm and a leg most likely. (so says the hubby)

Bhaklava is right about the process. My balcony neighbors are carpet-washers and I have watched them -- but the women get down on their knees for scrubbing. Can you cart the carpets down by yourself , have some kid do it for 5YTL?

Yes, that's the major logistical obstacle. It's not that far, but I don't really want to schlep heavy, stinky carpets in the heat. maybe I can find a kid.

Just smile nicely and tell the car wash guys you want them to come and get your carpets. They'll send someone to schlep them for you.

bhaklava-- yes a sweet smile can work wonders. A glass of water on return is a nice thing too. A tip doesn't hurt.

Unfortunately carpet cleaning will be one of the last chapters in Turkey's EU harmonisation. In the meantime you can schlep your carpets to Germany (where they will be cleaned with ph-neutral soaps, latest technology, and according to norms, rules, laws and regulations).

Just got our rugs and sofas cleaned and didn't have to give them away for a week. The guy came to our house with a big machine - very happy with result. For anyone who is interested the company is Ekip 0212 5249563

I'm still for the traditional ways of carpet (that is hand-woven carpets, not the wall-to-wall or manufactured gizmos) cleaning -- they've worked well enough for a few centuries. So, Red fire, how did this company clean your sofas? Quite curious as mine have been around for five years now. (Yikes!) What was the cost? You got a phone number?

phone number in previous post. It's a good option if you don't want to part with your carpets for a few days. As for the sofa - they used a vacuum cleaner sort of machine - good result.

Thanks for the tip. I usually have the carpets cleaned while I'm out of town, so that's no big deal, but the sofas!!!
