Could anyone please recommend places where I could get good quality contact lenses? Taksim-Sisli-Etiler-Levent area please...

Just go to the bigger glasses shops which often have a contact lens centra/area. I buy mine in Besiktas from a shop next to the fish market, opposite the black eagle. Don't need a prescription. Do checkups.

Thanks Charly... I was thinking of a checkup at Dunya Goz and was thinking they might be selling contact lenses as well? Although glasses shops are fine, too.

What type do you wear Charly? Those are going to be my first contact lenses...Never wore glasses, either. I hear the shorter the term the better for your eyes? Say, are those valid for 1 month any good?

Just make sure you get named brands e.g Bausch & Lomb if you're worried about quality. I order mine online and get them posted out as they weigh very little. You can usually save quite a bit doing this if you order 6 months supply in advance.

I buy mine from
http://www.lensim.com
they have quite reasonable prices & free postage.
I use Bausch& Lomb soft lenses and so far so good. (I'm using them for almost 10 years now)
I recommend monthly lenses which have six in a pack.
Also, they give you a free lens solution if you buy over a certain amount.

Useful site! Going to use it now actually.
No-F: I use Acuvue Advance - wear in the day, last one month.

if I remember rightly the same lenses as given on lensim for 160 YTL are about $23 at Walmart in the US. I think you also have to pay about $30 for an eye test. Obviously this is no use if you are not going to the US, but if you find yourself going there then it may be worthwhile checking it out.

Can you get coloured lenses that are vision-specific i.e. myopic? Never seen them.

Of course you can. Check the site or phone them and talk to Ibrahim.
He is in charge of the place.

In addition to Tallpony's point about lack of Walmart in NY, you also have to either present them with a prescription that you got from somewhere or get your eyes tested there (if I remember correctly).
