 Directions please?
Hi all..
Can anyone tell me what the best way to get to Arnavutkoy (Robert College) from Acibadem/Kadikoy would be? I have to be there at 7.45am on Saturday morning and can't even find the place on Google Earth..

Take the Kadikoy to Besiktas ferry and then a cab. The ferry leaves at quater-past and quarter-to the hour and the cab will cost less than 10YTL. I'm sure there are buses running along the Sahil too but I'm not familiar with them enough to advise.
I'd guess if you take the 0715 ferry you'll get there 5-10 mins late.

Thanks. Can't be late, so looks like it's the 6.45am ferry for me.. How much would it add to the cab fare if I were to take the ferry across to Kabatas at 7am instead?

AllyTT,
The Google Earth coordinates of Robert College are 41º04â01.30â N by 29º02â06.12 E. Buses are also fairly frequent from Besitas to Arnavutkoy (look at the bus's list of stops, if it says Bebek, you're good to go). You need to get off the bus at the Kolej stop (comes after Kurucesme, if I'm not mistaken). Be aware that it's a good 10 to 15-minute uphill hike from the lower gate to the school buildings. If you take a cab, make sure it doesn't drop you off at the gate but takes you uphill.
Good luck!

Use the Besiktas ferry not Kabatas as you may hit traffic around the Dolmabahce palace.
If you want to get a bus from Besiktas then take the bust stop on the main road opposite from where the Uskadar motor boats leave from. You will see a fruit and veg market under a bridge on the other side of the road.
All buses go past Robert college apart from the ortakoy bus. If they goto Bahcekoy, sariyer, Istinye or resitpasa then they all go towards the college.
Take the next stop after Kurucesme. The stop is called Kolej. From there you will see the entrance to the college on the other side of the road with big security gates. Be prepared for the heart stopping hike up the mountain.

Thanks for that Starman. As you mentioned the Uskudar ferries I guess that'd be the best bet - take the 7am from Uskudar to Besiktas and then a taxi.. it's gonna be an early morning

Depending on where you live exactly, Uskudar is a much better option. There is a minibus to Uskudar from Acibadem and then the private motors leave every 5 minutes or so at that hour and take only 5-10 minutes to cross to Besiktas versus approximately 25 minutes from Kadikoy.

So you are not coming to the party then, right?
Actually it doesn't take you 10 min up the hill, if you are fit, that is.

Thanks guys.. won't be back in Istanbul in time for the party. Shame they keep getting scheduled when I'm working or the day before I have an exam
