Intersport in Kanyon sells Scott - they're straight off the shelf but okay. You may have to make the odd adjustment before you use it as I'm not sure if they have good technicians building the frame set or just one of the normal shop assistants.
There are a few places in Fenerbache that look good and one in Moda too. A colleague recently recommended one of the Fenerbache shops (the one selling Trek apparently) but I haven't been in to check it out for myself.
However, it's likely that the a Trek bike will be more than you want to spend so I'd recommend you looking at Intersport first and trying for a low end Scott.

I didn't want to say so earlier but for a quality (think imported well known brand with decent frameset) you'll be looking at a fair bit more than 300YTL. If you just want a simple bike for the odd Sunday morning cruise then you should ba ble to find something cheaper. I've actually seen a lot of electrical appliance shops in Kadikoy selling such basic bikes nowadays.

There's a new shop on Barbaros on the right as you go down the hill towards the coast in Besiktas, think it's called Bike and Outdoor, looks quite good but I haven't been in/don't know anything about mountain bikes.

My wife and her sister want them. I'm perfectly happy with the one I have, it has 1200cc, produces 100bhp and has no pedals at all. The only exercise I get with this is lifting it off the side stand. It has an ashtray as well.
I don't want her to spend too much (of my money) but I want her to have something decent. Cheapies tend to be quite heavy and rust at the slightest hint of damp.
I'll take a look at Inter and the one on Barbaros.
