Until now I haven't found one and would still be happy if someone can provide more info. But I've been away for a month, so I didn't actively look for one.

Shouldn't be too difficult, just follow people with more money than sense, they're sure to believe in the same mumbo jumbo.

Now we learn about a new job discipline you aren't favourising.
May your medical books help you

Indeed they do. They are packed with scientific facts, peer reviewed and based on real medicine. They have no references to bone shakers, charlatans, degrees from dubious universities or people wearing white coats as proof of expertise. They are, in short, real medicine.

Orange juice for cancer anyone?

Good lord, where is your negative about alternative medicine coming from? I'm pretty down to earth, but had good experiences. Accupuncture for instance helped for my RSI and does a hell of a good job for my migraines. Better than those beta-blockers, triptanes, anti-depressants and other "real medicine". And it had a lot less side effects.
And except that, I don't believe that antibiotics are the cure for everything. At least that is my impression of what the doctors seem to think here.

Alternative medicine has its place, but it's beside real medicine, not as an alternative. I don't deny that accupuncture might have some benefits and I can't group every non-medical treatment together. But, there are far too many practitioners of "lab coat pseudo medicine" out there, telling people that they can cure almost anything through diet, wind chimes and other such nonsense. Yes, there are stories of people being healed through such witch doctory, but none have clinical evidence to support their claims. It's a subject that makes me angry because of the earnestness of those trying to persuade others they are right. People who really do need professional healthcare are being brainwashed by these nutters, into all kinds of fake treatments, making their illness worse and prolonging their suffering.

ok, that is spot-on. In case of severe illness I still believe in "real medicine", too. My best experience was with someone who is called a "Homeopath" in the Netherlands. Seriously, I thought that women was taking the piss and after every session I walked out thinking "thank God my health insurance pays for it."

Hi Siduri. Have you had any luck finding a naturopath or homeopath yet?

Post Hey This is MEDICINE:
Vodka drip saves poisoned Italian
SYDNEY: Australian doctors used an intravenous feed of vodka to keep an Italian tourist alive after he consumed large quantities of a poisonous substance.

The 24-year-old man, in an apparent bid at self-harm, had swallowed ethylene glycol, found in antifreeze, which can cause death. Doctors administered pure alcohol, the conventional antidote, but exhausted the hospital's supply.

Desperate to continue the treatment the doctors at Mackay Base Hospital in Queensland state hooked up an intravenous feed of vodka, hospital officials said. "The patient was drip-fed about three standard drinks an hour for three days in the intensive care unit," Dr Todd Fraser said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Fortunately for him he was in a medically induced coma for a good portion of that. By the time he woke up I think his hangover would have well and truly gone," Fraser said.

"The hospital's administrators were also very understanding when we explained our reasons for buying a case of vodka."

Well, as an Aussie, I can vouch that alcohol is the preferred method of self-medication for any number of conditions
