What, in the name of all that is holy, is a Naturopath?

Supposedly it is your local medicine woman with a handful of smelly herbs and a pot of leeches so you can smell fragrant as you die of an illness needing scientifically approved treatment.

Maybe it is a medical condition to describe someone who is obsessed with taking their clothes off in public.

It's Indian apparently, so likely to be quite popular with Californian mystics.
Leaf for your cancer sir?

Blackadder II (Doctor talking to Edmund:
"D:An extraordinary new cure has just been developed for exactly this kind of sordid problem.
E: It wouldn't have anything to do with leeches, would it?
D: I had no idea you were a medical man.
E: Never had anything you doctors didn't try to cure with leeches. A leech on my ear for ear ache, a leech on my bottom for constipation.
D: They're marvellous, aren't they?
E: Well, the bottom one wasn't. I just sat there and squashed it.
D: You know the leech comes to us on the highest authority?
E: Yes. I know that. Dr. Hoffmann of Stuttgart, isn't it?
D: That's right, the great Hoffmann.
E: Owner of the largest leech farm of Europe.

Don't know if Naturopath is the correct English term. It's a bit like Homeopathie (sp?), medical care with a hollistic approach and as much natural medication as possible.
For some it might be quacks and bollocks, but personally I am not one of those who believe that popping antibiotics is the cure for everything. A lot of minor things can be cured in a healthier way.

I am of the same ilk. I can recommend a few resources for you. Are you looking for homeopathic medicines or physical therapy (something along the lines of reflexology, accupuncture, etc)
a friend had her pneumonia cured quite easily this winter with vitamin c injections rather than antibiotics.

Looking for homeopathic medicines and would be grateful for any resources!
Have you heard about the health centre in Suadiye?
IMHO, they are popping far too many meds here anyway and doctors love to prescribe truckloads of pharmaceutics.

Or maybe someone who prefers to walk the long way through the forest to work than the short cut along the street

Siduri - did you find a naturopath or similar? Keen to sign up too! Got too used to using mumbo jumbo in the UK to give up now!
