 need sushi.
hey...
i was wondering if any of you know what the best japanese/sushi restaurant on the european side was. and i mean real japanese food/ real sushi. not sushi with some weird turkish addition like bulgur sushi. sushi that tastes like a japanese made it. i had sushi at a restaurant once and they threw some turk into it, it just wasn't right.
what is sushico like? is it any good
really really much appreciated

SUnset in Ulus had a visitng Japanese chef who may still be there. In any case, I really enjoy the sushi there.
When I'm in need of a quick fix that delivers, Jong Hwa in Etiler or SushiCo in 4Levent

As much as I like sushi, I haven't got myself to try some at sushico. It's just so weird: SushiCo: Chinese in Town So are they Chinese or Japanese? They have both the menus, but the discrepancy makes me question the quality of the uncooked fish rolls. So when I'm there I go for vegetables and cooked chicken from the Chinese menu.

As an asian girl,
As a big fan of Sushi.
I recomend Yutaka in hayatt hotel.
Sushiko is the worst one for real sushi, sorry.

Hai Sushi in Kalamış (on the Asian side) is decent. They have a branch on the European side in Elmadağ near Taksim Square but I have not tried that branch myself. Maybe someone else has?

Would agree with Pheonix, Sunset number 1 and Vogue number 2!
I have tried Mori in Ortakoy, but didn't really like it, partly to do with the surroundings.
SushiCo and Tokyo, fine for what they charge, but not a patch on the two above.
Haven't tried Hai Sushi or Yutaka (but heard it was excellent)
So I may have completely same taste as Pheonix!!
There's an authentic Japanese Sushi bar at the Japanese Cultural Centre in Taksim, behind the top mosque, but very limited menu, only saki to drink and very poor service. So I would avoid that if I were you.
I also heard that Home Store, bottom floor in Akmekez serves a mean Sushi, so if you're there shopping pop in, but don't go there for an evening meal as it's downstairs of a shopping mall with no windows, so not a great place to eat out.

There's a Japanese girl who works at our hotel and she recommends Banban Restaurant on Buyukdere Caddesi in Zincirlikuyu. Haven't tried it myself yet, but will do soon and let you all know.
Hai Sushi and Sushico don't really have 'real' sushi. Fine if you want a quick Japanese fix, but the selection is a bit limited. I like Tokyo, but admittedly don't go there for their sushi - usually have sashimi and their hot dishes. Yutaka is pretty good, but horribly expensive.

 Mori in Akatlar
We went to Mayadrom in Akatlar a couple of weeks ago and chanced across Mori there. We were very impressed with the sushi (fresh, nicely presented and excellent flavor!). It IS in a mall, but the atmosphere is quite nice (corner restaurant, so you're not looking out into the mall). They had several Japanese chefs. Worth giving it a try!!
(:
