Thanks for the ideas and info, everyone. I'm heading to Kınalıada for now; maybe I'll try for the Black Sea when I have more time or a car... though Riva sounds great even without them.

Thanks for the correction. nalan. You're right, it is Burgaz Adasi.

Bodobar, ESP if you have a toddler in tow, be forewarned that the black sea coast is not the safest place for swimming

Burbaco, is the beach you're talking about on Burgaz (I'm getting confused). Do you think I could easily take a nearly toddler there?

Well, I went to the public beach at Kınalıada this morning, and it was very nice. There was plenty of space (though I was told it would be choked on the weekend), clear water, and sun loungers (at 5YTL a pop), and it was close to the ferry dock. The only catch is that the "pebbles" are rather large rocks; you definitely need swim shoes, and even with footwear a small kid may have trouble keeping his balance on his own. My 2.5-year-old was fine, though. We're definitely going back there.

I think I'll give it a try. I'll look out for you there. I'll be the one running after a hyperactive prewalker. It's amazing how far and how fast they can go on all fours.

We're probably going again on Friday morning (my daughter has been begging to go "to the sea" again since we returned), so if you happen to be there, look for the blonde kid in a bright pink swimsuit.
Good luck in keeping up with your son... I'd imagine the rocky surface will slow him down, unless he's got knee guards!

I was thinking of going there tomorrow too. I'll definitely look out for you and introduce myself.
