Certainly my statement is true of Running shops, not sure about Tennis though. Any running things that I want I either mail order or wait until im in the uk.

Was hoping not to have to go to Europe to find good stuff. And mail ordering is difficult (where do you mail order from, by the way?), as I would like to discuss what I am buying, would like to get advice from people who know what they are talking about.

I agree but only on one important aspect..... the shoes, for those I always go to a shop in London. The rest of the stuff shorts / shirts etc. then advice is rarely needed. Training perhaps, but there's enough out there on the www. for me.

There's a new shopping centre in Maslak, where the car repairs places are (lots of BMW workshops there) that has a reasonably good sports shop. I remember seeing a lot of racquets although I don't know if they carry good brands.

GB is spot on re: running shops. Shame on you Istanbul.

The Akmerkez has a good tennis racquet shop on the top floor, and you can get all the other acessories (such as McEnroe anger management headbands) from the Nike/Addidas stores on the other floors.
