C and A used to be in the UK and they disappeared. They are very popular in Germany. They're not so great but good for cheap stuff and the clothes last well.Nice for people w/young children and students. Hope they decide to open a branch in Izmir too.
Have a great weekend everyone.

hahaha
charly .. there was one marks and spenser in all of saskatchewan where i grew up and my granny (from liverpool) always tried to take me there to buy "knickers" and i used to laugh my ASS off at the place bc you could buy all this weird food and all the clothes looked boring...
so to piss her off (and prevent further forays to MandS) i used to chant "panties panties" at her... i supposed simply bc she hated that word as much as i hated knickers
so... yes.. i understand. and now we both had had to endure underpants shopping with grannies
and i will avoid the store in the future...
unless my granny comes to visit

Actually C&A never "disappeared" from the UK, they are one of the largest retail landlords in the country and make a profit now roughly eight times what they did in their penultimate year of retail business operations.

So they rent the'r previous store space which is far more attractive than their clothes? They probably don't trade under the C&A name though, in which case they have in fact disappeared.

Have you been down a UK high street in the last 10-15 years? Almost all of the old dinosaur mid and lower range chain dept stores have either disappeared or been severely changed. UK shoppers discovered smaller specialty stores and fast fashion type stores (Zara, H&M, Next, Uniqlo, etc). So yes, the large prime real estate that they owned on almost every major thouroughfare in the UK is/was worth more than their retail activities, hence why they liquidated their stock, paid off their employees and ceased retail operations in the UK. The same UK operation however does exist, trades under the C&A (and other names, as it/they always have)and is still run by the same members of the same family that owns the company, and makes a ton more money than they did before.
