Post Sightseeing and Shopping advice on the Asian side
My sightseeing and shopping continues....
Tomorrow I would like to venture over to the Asian side. I will have mostly all day Friday, but would like to go during the better traffic times. I was told I need to expand my shopping and venture out of the Grand Bazaar since Istanbul has so much to offer. So with that said, would love all and any suggestions of where good bargaining places to shop and great sights to see. We have a car and will be traveling from Sariyer so directions will definitely be helpful.

Thanks to all for your input!

Not trying to be rude, but you really should invest in an Istanbul guidebook to get an idea of the sites.
For shopping, you can head over to Kadikoy, or Bagdat Cad if you want the upscale shops. Saturdayis the Uskudar pazaar, but not worth the trip over. Sali pazaar in Kadikoy is good, but go early.

It's all good baklava. I actually have a book but I figured I would get better ideas from people who actually live here.
Thanks for the advice looks like I will be checking out Kadikoy.

Take a walk around the food market in Kadikoy - great fish shops and delis. If you want lunch try Ciya (actually 3 restaurants opposite one another) for (alledgedly) the closest thing to ottoman cuisine.

Sali Pazaar is on a Tuesday so no good for tomorrow but there is a smaller version in the same place (FB Stadium carpark) if you're really keen on cheap knickers and crap veg.

Bagdat Cad. is similar to Nisantasi but without so many of the very high-end brands. Plenty of nice bars and restaurants however. If the weather is nice I'd suggest a walk along the front at Suadiye.

Moda for an icecream (again if the weather is nice).

Erm..

What kind of sites are you interested in seeing? Mosques, tombs, palaces? The options on this side are a bit limited, and rather spread out. Depending on where you are going, you have to add in the traffic factor.

When I read "Ciya" my mouth started watering. Seriously, it's that good. Don't miss it.

The obnoxious Kadıköy pazar takes place on Friday as well. Keep a close eye on your valuables!
