 stuff that you want
During the considerable time that I have been in Istanbul I have been noticing that I am bringing back less and less things when travelling abroad and that I can find more and more things here.
maybe some shopkeeper will have mercy on us... I invite you to list things that you crave and still cant find here or buy at a reasonable price:
1. Condensed milk
2. Marmite
3. Milton ( a kind of sterlizing liquid for baby stuff that you can use to sterilize water safely. just a drop needed; very handy for Food and Veg)
4. Listerine mouthwash (you can get it but its aout 25YTL p bottel)
5. Cadbury's chocolate
6. Smirnoff Ice and others

Crystal Light... (or any other super-low cal drink besides diet coke/pepsi)
They were selling C-Light here as a locally produced alternative till last year and then they took it off the market, I was crushed!!!! I met a local Kraft bigwig and he commented that they were having a real struggle getting Turks to accept powdered drinks. Tang is at risk of being pulled too....
Also when i first came here there was diet orange Fanta. That's gone too.
Sour Cream... no yogurt is not a good substitute....
Otherwise I agree that as time goes on I bring less and less stuff from home...

Teacherchick, Tang was so succesful in the two years after its launch that they had to continually charter aircraft to bring it in, it has ben very successful and if anything Kraft's problem in general was its change in business structure with Sabanci after their business relationship ended if anything else.
As for the OP, I think you need to categorize available and READILY available. For example you can find Teleggio cheese from Italy, In Italy a decent brand will set you back 6-7 Euros for a Kilo, here 100 grams will set you back 25 YTL. A nice French Rose that I pay 4 Euros for in France costs 42 YTL here if you can find it, Cashews cost 30-35 YTL a Kilo, when in any neighboring country (to the south) you wouldn't pay more than $6 a kilo.
Personally I walk into supermarkets all over the place, whether in Spain, Italy, the UAE, the US, China, wherever and constantly lament the fact that Turkish supermarkets are so monochrome in their selection and how little, other than Turkish food is readily available. Yes they have come some way, but are nowhere near cosmopolitan.

You can get that everywhere. At least the Heinz brand. I've yet to see Lea and Perkins for sale here.
