volunteer opportunities for ppl whose turkish sucks?
does anybody know of an organization that could use somebody like me to volunteer a couple of times a month?
about 6-8 months ago i was looking for part time volunteer work, but my turkish was barely existant so it was impossible. now i know enough to basically communicate with people who are patient, but i have very little time, mostly just on the weekends and nights. i'm looking for something in the sisli/beyoglu area...

I live in Beyoglu and am looking for a couple of volunteers to clean my flat and do some ironing twice a week, would that interest you? Would get fed and TV could be on while ironing. Level of Turkish not a problem.

I suggest joining the IWI. http://www.iwi-tr.org. They have may volunteering opportunities and do work at an orphanage, help blind and deaf people as well as at children's cancer ward. They also support the Bomonti old age home and I think there is also a possibilityto work with animals.
Please PM me if you want more info.

IWI (international witches of Istanbul)
if your husband is less then a GM & has a car smaller than a merc then forget them. Also they love sexual discrimination.

Or try this organisation.
An Austrian lady called Helga Margotti used to work there, she might be able to help.

Some great suggestions.
Really like the stray dog project. So many of them around, it's heartbreaking.
In reference to the IWI do you need a residents permit to get involved or just a foreign passport?
