 Arnavutkoy
We've walked past an art supply shop in Arnavutkoy. I don't have the name of the street it is on, but it's just off of the main street going away from the water. I'm sure if you ask around, someone will point you in the right direction. Hope that helps a little.

Hi Sadie, there's one in Besiktas, on the main coastal road. It's just when you leave Besiktas (direction to Ortaköy) on the left.

I'll search for the closest one first, and if I can't find it I'll go on to the 2nd place. It will be so boring to be back in the US, where there are addresses, and I will just hop in my car and sanely drive to my destination, in a city where streets are laid out on a grid

In basement of bookstore on Istiklal
Hi Sadie,
I saw some art supplies in the basement of a bookstore on Istiklal Cad.
They have drawing paper, paints, watercolours, crayons, brushes etc.
I just got some drawing paper and pencils there yesterday.
No sure if they have charcoal, maybe U can call them.
It's called Istiklal Kitabevi (they also have a Billetix outlet there)
Istiklal Cad. no 79-81.
Tel: (0212) 292 95 18

Blush - thank you so much! I did find charcoal and paper at the place Utabe described. I went around looking for cool things for pencil rubbing but can only find raised designs instead of inscribed. Have you noticed anything engraved?
