Post Zoo in Istanbul?
We have my sis and kids visiting next week, and I've read that there is a soon somewhere in Istanbul. It seems it's on the outskirts of town. Has anyone been? Is it worth going to if the weather improves?

I meant that there is a "zoo" somewhere on the outskirts of town. Sorry!

havent been there myself but I have this info:

http://www.paradisezoo.com/

Bogaziçi Hayvanat Bahçesi - Bogaziçi Zoo
Darica
Gebze
Phone : (262) 653 66 66

Directions: Follow the E5 highway out of Istanbul towards Ankara for about 40 minutes. Exit at Bayramoglu-Darica. Follow the signs to Darica and then look for signs for the Zoo. The Zoo is on the right hand side of the busy road and you can easily miss it – park in front, just off the side of the street. Open every day from 8.30 to 18.30. Entrance fee is 10.000.000 for adults, free for 0-6 years. There are toilet facilities, gift shops and a restaurant. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the joy on your children’s faces.

I was to the zoo last summer - it's well worth it. You get up much closer and personal to the animals than you do at other zoos I have visited. I was even spat upon by an angry he-chimp.

Great! Looks like we'll be making the trip. I'll let you know how it goes (and we may be avoiding the maymunnlar!!). (:

For smaller kids, I would recommend the petting zoo in Polonezkoy. They have a nice picnic area where you buy meat and grill it yourself. Feels like miles away from the city but it's less than an hour drive. Check it out:
