Nothing outstanding about either of the towns (spent a fair amount of time working in both these and Limassol) and if entering from Northern Cyprus I'm not sure that you'll be able to get to the Greek side, which is (as I'm sure you're aware) where Larnaca is.

Yes, I am
Both in Limasol and Larnaka I plan to do soe archeological sight seeings. I read a little about it on the net and it sounds exciting.
Why do you say that crossing to Greek side will be a prob? Folks here said that crossing would be no problem

That's how it was when I was there but with the recent joining of the Greek side to the EU it may well have changed.

planning on crossing on Saturday
wishing the Greeks won't give me a hard time arriving from NC
