Post Bands in istanbul
Not sure to put this in the Istanbul forum or here, but figure people living out of Istanbul might know a thing or two... My question being what bands are good to see ( / hear ) in Istanbul? I am already a fan of baba zula ( and plan on being at their next gig ) and have seen Crossing the bridge, so I've got a vague idea of some, but other recommendations would be good!

I recently went to a gig at babylon, and I was absolutely blown away by 'replicas' and 'nekropsi'. Replicas are so cool I just went and bought their album at Mephisto and am actually currently listening to it! Nekropsi is a lot older and very professional (although a tad experimental), but the quality of their sound at the gig was amazing...studio sound. You should listen to both, and I recommend live sound.

Charly: old, popular or up and coming doen't really matter, the main criteria is "good", although I guess I'm thinking of things in the more alternative vein, actually the more weird / obscure / experimental the better :)

I saw one song of the Replicas on Crossing the bridge, thought that was great, but the listened to some of their myspace stuff and was less excited - maybe I'll have to see them live to get the full experience.

Nekropsi seems up my general alley, the song Harf Devrimi is great! I'd like to check them out but myspace has no upcoming gigs for them :(

Norrda is interesting but, like you said Gece, a bit melancholic - maybe too much so for me. And I'm still confused as to what the genre of "electroaccoustic" actually means. I've heard a few bands who use it to describe themselves but they all sound completely different! I mean, yes, I hear electronic sounds and I hear accoustic sounds but that's more of a description of intruments than a genre per se.
