good music, great cause: Global Warming awareness
I love this compilation! It guess it's the Castillian in me. Kaiser Chiefs' and Arctic Monkeys' isongs in Latin beats! Imagine that. Better yet, listen to them!
It's also a great tribute to the late Ibrahim Ferrer plus all proceeds go to APE, Artists' Project Earth, an organization addressing global warming issues. It's time to do some earth rescuing through music we already love.

I think these things are great!
For example, last year there was live8, with concerts all over the world to raise awareness for uhm... Don't really remember, but I think it was poverty.
I guess we solved that one.
So by my minimalistic calculations, next year global warming should be a thing of the past.
ROCK!

It's not too late. What we need is action, not resignation. We all need to start with our own steps.
Did anybody watch the video clips on their web site? Clocks is compelling! Most of my friends are placing orders for the CD.
I'm totally sold on the Cuban edition of RDM myself and I'm seriously contemplating buying a Prius. My best friend here drives one. Dramatically reduced emission, 55 gallons to a mile on the highway and she doesn't even have to plug it in!
I recycle, buy sustainable goods, walk when I can and occasionally ride our zero emissions MUNI buses in the city but I think I should do more. My neighbors think I'm nuts that I hang clothes to dry outside on sunny days when we all have dryers!

Hello. I am NOT America Starman. I started years ago as an individual.
Al Gore's already a winner. He's got an Oscar. I don't know him personally but he was really nice and let me through first when we were both in line at the newsagent at JFK airport one time.

I'm seriously contemplating to buy a Lamborghini Murcielago which does 13.2 mpg, and that's the optimists talking.
And Al Gore -is- a loser, especially if he's standing in line at the airport. I never stand in line at the airport, but that's mostly because I'm fcuking awesome.
Also, Steve never mentioned that -you- were using 30% of the worlds resources, he said that the USA was using 30% of the worlds resources, while being a serious minority.

I've always felt it coincidental that the Prius sounds so much like pious.
"Look at me everyone! I'm saving the planet because Ive got a noddy car!"
Prius also sounds like "bandwagon jumping attention seeker", although perhaps with a few more syllables.

Are your dozens of pairs of shoes, handbags, jeans etc environmentally friendly? Won't one pair of Prada shoes do, rather than several? Methinks I spy a bit of selective awareness.
Mwah Mwah!

Also did you know that a Prius Outdoes Hummer in Environmental Damage?
The Toyota Prius has become the flagship car for those in our society so environmentally conscious that they are willing to spend a premium to show the world how much they care. Unfortunately for them, their ultimate green car is the source of some of the worst pollution in North America; it takes more combined energy per Prius to produce than a Hummer.

Take some organic green tea people and relax. Man, you are turning into cynics when sex isn't the topic.
Yes, Starman. Those with private jets are taking a beating these days from people bent on tackling the issue of global warming. They are going down checlist with this one.
I tried to back off on this one but I'd like to respond to David even if just to entertain him:
Mwah back you first off. I have a penchant for crafts made by hand and yes I admit to being a slave for 'sole comfort' by buying two Prada loafers in one go but in the past few months I've dramatically limited my purchases to just basic things (except in food, health and grooming department where I try to buy green/sustainable). Most of my jeans are made in the USA so they're not made by a poor laborer who earns meager wages in an unheated cramped factory in China. I make my own accessories and I'm learning how to sew. As for bags, I use my 'green' shopping bag and carry my groceries in it. I'm still attached to my leather hand bag to lug my stuff in but my yoga bag is made from recycled plastic bottles and my mat is made from recycled rubber. Lastly, I no longer think my gas guzzler of a vehicle has benevolent-to-nature value. Sure, it's comfy and roomy but there are other 'cleaner' options out there.
To RSA: Haven't you heard of cueing even if you obviously don't practice it?
Also, I live it California. In the city (and surrounds) where I live, we can actually boast that we breathe clean air. People have much awareness of the impact of greenhouse gasses, waste/byproducts, emissions, etc. The pioneering chef/entrepreneur Alice Waters just banned bottled water in her legendary restaurant, Chez Panisse. She will instead serve fiiltered tap water in still or fizzy form to customers and will not be using any plastic containers that use much energy to be recycled. The city government of SF has already implemented the same program. California trailblazers like Alice inspire people to change their views and conducts so that the overall effect brings positive impact in the communities here and beyond.
There's much talk and criticism here but it doesn't really help in this case to just be doing that guys.

will have to split this as its gone from some crappy music to the green debate.
AISF, this is not againt you but there are many points we can bring up to each other about where we could improve.
For example, I take public transport everywhere even though I do own a car here.

PS as a side note, in Doha the cost of petrol has to be seen to be believed; approx 18c per litre or 68c per US gallon.
