Hi Mark,
thanks for the message - which school do you work at? A few friends go to Fotini cafe in Arnavutkoy on Wednesday nights (actually for German food that nite as the owners are German/Turks) so come along if you'd like to this week if you'd like to meet some more people!

 reply Hi...that's great! I just discovered Fotini a week ago and have been there 3 times with a Turkish friend who introduced me to this sight. I teach at Enka school -8th & 9th grades & Drama-. I hope to run into you Wednesday...I'll be the spike-haired Yank who needs to lose some weight!

Just to say hi after meeting up the other night at the Karaoke - it was good to meet you and have a bit of a sing-song - my singing skills need immediate improvement but it was good craic all the same! Didn't make it to the DJ night on Saturday but hope to catch up with you at another meetup sometime!

Ufff.. I want to move to Arnavutkoy... sounds like there are many friendly people there. I live in Kiziltoprak, near FB stadium, not much going on around here..

Actually I don't go to Fotini these days, Kuzgun down the road seems to have taken over as the local hangout! They were having jazz on Monday nights but it seems to have stopped now....
I just heard about a new jazz bar in Kurucesme, somewhere behind Migros I'm told, will let you know once I've checked it out!
