 Hi all!
Hello ,
I have been in Istanbul round two years, living along the Bos with the seagulls, freighters and the Sunday traffic...I love living here and have so far learned a decent amount of Turkish through having Turkish friends, drinking tea with shopkeepers, reading my dictionary, etc. ...But now starting to feel a bit stuck up here in Arnavutkoy and so am looking to meet more expat friends and do different activities together with people I have more things in common with - like travel, music, books, talking in bars, walking round the neighbourhoods getting to know this amazing place! I am one of these kind of long term Aussie expats; have lived in Canada, China, Czech Republic and also Japan & Hong Kong for a while....and yes, I am yet another English teacher!
This is my first time or really reading EiT: I didn't know what I was missing! Anyone know of any book clubs or reading groups or jazz enthusiasts?
Looking forward to meeting people at the Nexus party Friday night!

Hi Bosphorus Girl.
I guess we met at Fotinis last week, if you are the one with the neighbours going for a walk along the Bos every morning at 5.00h (Yes Gece, she found out about the Fotini without us). Welcome to the forum and see you around in the neighbourhood.
And tomorrow morning we'll run. Be at the Iskele in Arnavutköy at 7.10h and you'll see familiar faces!

Hi all,
Thanks for welcoming me so nicely!
Hi Dekolte (love that name-are you always dec olte?)= 'Arnavutkoyspor' Sundays sound fun...it's pretty much 'spor' just getting up and down the hills round here, right? Being a good Aussie girl I did netball while the guys were doing their Aussie Rules thing....but maybe could get into the bouncing thing in basketball, or maybe just the beer afterwards......think I am a very very very very close neighbour of your particular basketball court!!! Is it every Sunday afternoon?
BTW: I did get to Fotini's party on Saturday night ; it became a karaoke competition until 3 something am...rather hoarse voices were had by all the next day I'm pretty sure....
Hi again (?) Jonathon...yes I am the one with the enormously considerate neighbours but you just can't be one of the Germans I met at Fotini's - how can a German possibly have such a Brit name as Jonathon???!!! I would like to come Bos. running maybe for 20 minutes if you are starting at 7.10 as I have to be in at work by 8am....but maybe 20 minutes of running is all I can take physically and psychologically the first time anyway....I'll see what ungodly hour I am again awoken at tomorrow....
Hi Gece, thanks for the excellent bistro recommendation....even belated!
and....Thanks for putting my name down for Friday Charly, I paid thru the net so hopefully it's already down??

Hope to meet you on Friday. I haven't met any new Aussies here for a while and I may need a good chinwag to get my accent back to normal, although yours is probably less Aussie than mine if you've expatted for so long.
Welcome to the forum anyway.

Thanks Monsta, will keep a look out for you tonight at the party! A nice Aussie chinwag would be great, as my accent is pretty out of practice too!
