Welcome to Turkey! So what you going to be doing and for how long?
for cars you can check out these 2 websites or trawl around the dealers when you arrive...that is of course unless you qualify for a tax free car...check out the other parts of the forum

Big Nick,
Welcome to the forum. Bit of a short intro though. What brings you to Antalya and where are you coming from? (geographically speaking; sanity here is purely optional) How long is your stay in Turkey for? You'll most likely find people of same interests if you can provide a tad more background information. Odds are good that they'll be more cooperative and willing to help.

Welcome Big Nick - please give us a bit more info. For instance - do you die your hair blue? wear odd socks? or base jump from the first floor of a lunatic assylum using your handkerchief as a parachute? We're just dying to know!

 More info
Will be moving from Cheltenham in the UK to Turkey on the 24th March where I will work at a new hotel .
I have jumped around the world a little, we lived (we being Wife and Son) and only relocated from the USA in April of last year, needless to say being home in the UK wasn't as expected and a new job opportunity looked like the right move. We have done Germany, Italy and US a few times before too, so relocation isn't strange to us.
I am a fanatical motorbike fan and will be bring my BMW down in a few months once I have figured how to get it into the country and my work visa is through.
other than that I am mildly normal and look forward to discovering Turkey.
Thanks for the replies.

Welcome Big Nick. Go on, make my afternoon and tell us where the 'big' bit comes from.... Or even better, we could have a poll if I can finish off these bsatard contracts by the end of the day. Are you coming to run the hotel in general, the kitchen or just water the gardens?

 Bike
I am planning to bring the bike in on a tourist basis = 6 months I believe is allowed as I am not planning to come out of the country, however I will be looking to change it to a blue plate in Turkey, but not sure yet. The bike has been USA, Italy and UK so far so planning to bring it no matter what.
The bike is a R1150GSA. Picture attached!

Big Nick,
Great bike. I'll be in the Mersin area this summer and hope I can get my bike in the country before the end of summer. Be great to hook up and do some riding. The road between Mersin and Antalya is spectacular. I can't wait to do the ride on my bike rather than 4 wheels.
Are you up to weekend trips or do you have a preference to stay local? My longest trip was 20 hours straight from Southern California to Oregon. Last time I attempt that. Learned the hard way that one can fall asleep on two wheels.
Good luck and look forward to meeting up with you.

Love the open road, did Boston to Nova Scotia in 20 something hours in 2005.....rained all the way, but Cape Breton was amazing on arrival.
Looking forward to some cool road trips, I did Marmaris in 2002 and rented a scooter and did some of the coast then, pretty nice roads I remember and plan to re-visit on the GS.
