 Cook Islander in Istanbul
Kia Orana, I'm from the Cook Islands (much associated to new zealand) and am teaching at the British International School here in Istanbul. I love this city, the people, the language and the food! Keen to use this forum to find out info.

Welcome erinmatheson, can we call you erin? Or e?
From the Cook Islands to Istanbul, there's a story in there somewhere isn't there?
Enjoy the forum, there's a great bunch of people talking a great bunch of nonsense.

Welcome. I would imagine you are probably the only Cook Islander here, unless there is a well hidden community around. So how does the quiet of Istanbul compare to the metropolitan chaos of the Cook Islands!

well there's two of us here! My friend William has just arrived and is looking for a job that's the main reason I joined this forum so I could scope some teaching jobs for him.
No not a really exciting story just knew the right people and landed a job here without even trying to.
Thanks for your replies... oh and a friend said there was something about a boat trip this weekend but I can't find anything about it here.

 Long way to travel...
Welcome Erin! We loved NZ but never made it to the Cook Islands. Heard the diving is amazing though!
Does "Kia Orana" mean hello?
ps good luck to William's job search

Cook Islands eh. Isnt that the place associated with those ruffians from HMS Bounty? Dont forget the cake for the boat party (sorry Simpson, had to get in there before you did)

All this talk of Kia-Ora making me thirsty, although at least i know i wont be fighting the crows for it. Maybe head off to the Congo for some Um Bongo to quench it.

 meitaki!
Thanks for your replies everyone! The bounty stopped in the Cook Islands before the mutiny which ended up landing at Pitcairn so yeah both right. Will look into the boat trip thanks.
