Post Fat Foreign Foody Flys in!
Hi all,

Been here with my missus for about 2 weeks. Originally from Manchester area (me that is - wife from Kent). We've just moved from Morocco (Phillippines & Sri Lanka prior to that) and are very much looking forward to engaging in the delights of Instanbul (& Turkey as whole I guess).
Anyway - we absolutely love travelling, food & drink and good company. I'm interested in watching sports (Rugby, Cricket, Football etc)with copious amounts of beer and good banter. I'm also interested in not watching sports with copious amounts of beer & banter.
The missus is the breadwinner (garments) this time around but I'd love to keep busy either teaching or writing here (taught for 6 years in S.L and was also editor of a man's mag (not top shelf)). I love cooking and no doubt will be enquiring about ingredients from you all, with my first request being fresh Lemon Grass?
Love all social occasions, (balls, parties, gigs, quizzes etc) so if anybody is organising or needs help organising then I want to be invited or involved.

Cheers

John

Hi John,

Welcome to Istanbul, do you like kebabs? I hope so. No Chili sauce though.

You will find food & drink and ordinary company through this forum.

Welcome Jonny. Enjoy your stay in Turkey.

There's a boat party coming up in August, so keep an eye out for that. It should be a good laugh.

Is that your real picture? :D

Lemongrass can be found sometimes in Kolay grocers in Arnavutköy, sometimes Balik Pazarı if you ask around and possibly around Pangaltı (check food%drink section) but need to check that out.

Thanks jonathan - but in truth anywhere outside of Manchester is exotic. Even Skegness!

Cooking usually covers Anglo/French, Thai, Filipino, Indian & Sri Lankan, Spanish and Italian. Some other nationalities but mainly single dishes. Once cooked
