Post Hi From Ceyhan, Adana
Hi all, new to this forum but have high hopes from browsing through site.

I'm a wee Scottish lass (34 yrs old) who moved here last October to be with my Turkish partner.....
Anyway, as much as I love Turkey and the Turkish people I'm feeling a tad lonely for some good old fashioned Scottish/Western humour and a conversation in English.

If anyone (excludes anyone looking for 3rd wife or passport to Britain...!), preferably female, lives in or around Adana/Ceyhan/Osmaniye areas and would like to help a friendly scottish lass settle in then please drop me a reply. Finding an ex-pat in this area of Turkey is like finding a bacon sannie. I also brought my 4-legged friend with me but cannot find any good, dog-friendly parks to take her to.

I'm also really keen to locate a scuba diving club locally.

Ta in advance for any replies.

Love to dive with you in Adana but if you take a look around you'll notice there is no sea and that you are surrounded by land;
which is rather important for diving.

I suggest you look at places like Kaş. or alternatively contemplate why you shagged the waiter:

Welcome dnnmccrnr,
How exactly do you pronounce your name?

A couple of Adana people have signed up here in the last week or so. As I suggested to someone else, take a look at this bloke's blog http://jakedolson.com/blog/

He is a Yank in Adana and seems like a decent sort of fellow. Then again, I seem like a decent sort of fellow when it comes to my forum posts.

dnnmccrnr,

Welcome to the forum. Take a walk through the Adana postings and you'll see a few others in your area. Unfortunately, they may not meet your requirements. I believe them to be of the male persuasion. Good luck.

hi there dnnmccrnr

just thought i'd say hello and welcome to both the site and to Turkey too...... you might have to travel a little bit further afield for local company; but bellieve it or not from some of the previous postings up above here; you will receive a friendly response to general commetns and enquiries...! although i think you'll still be hard pressed to find a local diving club!

all the best, Jono

Cheers all for the replies,

I'll take the replies re. any diving club "locally" as supplying some humour 4me.... :) Honestly thought there would be a diving club "locally" since Adana/surrounding areas aint so far from the coast (~70kms)! Guess not then.

I'll reply to some other posts in Adana section and see what happens. I'm the eternal optimist (except possibly where the bacon sannie is concerned) so here's hoping!

reply to Oz Kanka - most people just call me biatch.....
reply to ch - do you know Mohammed Ali? Howd u know he was a waiter????????

you can get bacon sarnies easily in the 3 major cities (and possibly many others) in Turkey (i.e. Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara). If you visit any of these three then no problem. This of course does not serve your present need but I would have to think with the number of US soldiers in Adana there will be bacon available somewhere. OZ Kanka used to live down that way in the days when he had hair so he must know.

Yes I did used to live down there and in the bars outside the base you can get anything you want, (and plenty of stuff you certainly don't want). Only hassle in regards to the bacon is that it is the crappy American streaky stuff and not proper bacon ... well, not as I like it.

I live in Adana and I'm pretty sure there are diving associations here. I have some friends who worked at INcirlik who were able to get certified for diving and were able to really get into diving during their time in Turkey, I assume it was all with local groups. I also know there's a watersports club in my neighborhood, but I don't really know anything about it and there's also a diving club through the university here.

All that said, Welcome.

There are quite a number of foreigners in Adana, it seems like I meet new foreigners all the time, and they're not all from the base. Although I haven't ever met a Scot in town.

Please let me know if there's anything my wife and I can do to help you, and do check out my blog http://jakedolson.com/blog

as a fellow Scot I can understand the desire for potato scone and black pudding but I think you'll have to do without them. Although there is a pig butcher in Istanbul that might oblige with the black pudding.

Already had look your site before I posted 1st "hi" but couldn't find way to contact you but then read post saying to drop u a comment and you always reply. I have another browse and say hi.

Cannae friggin believe it! Just lost bet with local businessman in Ceyhan over population stats for UK - just cost me a bottle of 18yr old Johnnie Walker....! If only the english could keep it in their pants then I wouldnae be 120ytl poorer (or I kept my gob shut [no pun jokes pls...]). Worst bit is the initial bet was only for 5kgs bananas but I was a cocky twat and upt it to 18yr old JW. In future I'll remember to stay :-#

dnnmccrnr,
Before you make bets in the future it is a good idea to use the collective wisdom of the internet (ie this forum). It could save you a lot of money and win you lots of whisky, which we will of course help you consume.
