 Greetings to all from spine
Hello everyone, I'm a friend of Oz Kanka and the Flying Dutchman. I've been in Turkey for about 12 years now (Antalya, Istanbul, now Ankara) and I can stop an unwanted conversation with any taxi driver by saying: ``I gave the best years of my life to this country, and what do I have in return?''.
I'm a journalist with an obsessive love of science fiction, ezogelin soup and skiing. I'm male and fully intend to create a cool avatar as soon as I can.
(I'm re-posting this as I posted in wrong thread just now. Watch it, Newbie!)
Greetings to all.

Nerd.
Oh, and welcome, by the way.
And, lest you forget, once again, this time a bit louder, NERD!

I am from England: Bath, to be specific.
Hello Arikan, thanks for the welcome. But don't come running to me when you need to reverse the polarity on your transporter matrix. I may be busy.

So who's your favorite science fiction author? I favor Andre Norton, myself...
Nice to meet a fellow fan.....

You're from England (not the UK?)
Why have you shortened your nickname?

Bath, that's quite posh. About time we had a bit of quality. Welcome.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. some quick answers:
- never read Andre Norton, but I'll look out next time I'm in a proper bookshop (sadly lacking in Ankara). I like it all really. Iain M Banks, Venor Vinge (great name!), Alfred Bester, Le Guin....
- Why did I say England, not the UK? Good question. Partly because living in Turkey pushes you toward being Ingiliz. Partly to be specific. In case anyone might think I'm an Eng-er-lund chauvinist, I should add that I am an honourary Welshman.
- And yes, Bath is a bit posh. As well as my Mum, famous folk living there include Giles, the Watcher/Librarian from Buffy. Luckily, Bristol is nearby.
