 Greetings from a Pakistani
Hi everyone, My name is adeel and i will be moving to turkey pretty soon working with Unilever in marketing. This assignment should be for 2-3 years. I am currently here for an apartment search and looking at a place somewhere around bagat street. The budget is around USD 2000. Anyone knows a good place 2 bedrooms and 2 washrooms then shout.
Also any advice on the best way to buy a car and i have heard that if you have a work permit you dont need to pay tax....any more details on this.
Anyway I will go back to Pakistan next week to return in march and will be in touch....would love to make a few freinds...

Hi and welcome.
Advice on the blue plate tax free cars, it is not worth as they say it is tax free but you have to put up a huge deposit which could be thousands.
Good luck in your search for a home.

Welcome Adeel, I guess you meant Bagdat Street, you can easily find a nice apartment with that budget.
I would recommend you Moda, but if you're planning to buy a car, that would be big problem, since most of the apartments here doesn't have parking lot.
Suadiye, Erenkoy, Caddebostan are nice choices with decent neighbourhood and there are a many bars, restaurants around.

Welcome, Adeel, I have a car for sale. It's a great car for monkey or dog owners. Enjoy the beautiful, friendly Istanbul!

Hmmmm, a mysterious connection between me and adeel which I can't see.
I hate to disappoint you Utabe, but I don't think we have much in common with Adeel, other than my Pakistani Vampire avatar

Adeel,
Welcome to Istanbul. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for in an apartment. I'm in agreement with Starman on the vehicle. My advice would be to wait until situated and more familiar with the logistics of Istanbul.
Welcome and good luck.

Welcome Adeel. In what area of Unilevers business will you be operating? Fats, soaps or tea maybe? I have a couple of friends who work for Unilever (not here though). Maybe we can all get cheap (or free) stock cubes? Enjoy Istanbul!

don't worry Adeel - the dog/monkey car thing had me stumped as well........and it all depends on whether you really need a car. the amount of hassle and charges in parking might mean you're better off wtih taxis and public transport.....all depends on yoru routes though.
welcome btw!

Dear, it rather depends on whether you own a monkey or a dog, it can be quite strenuous to try to get on a bus or taxi with 'em, not everybody in this country likes monkeys, you know. It's a religious thing.
