Fantastic. Reminds me of a hotel room I once stayed in, in Swakopmund, Namibia, former German colony, where they had a huge sign on the wall saying: "Don't make fire atmosphere in this room!" [Imagine Gerrrrman aczzent ven rrreedink it.]

back to you.... away from sports. Teacher Chick is a finest-kind lady which may say something good about Ohio. Welcome. I'm from a few states away, Born in Indiana. Grew up in Chi-town. Own property in Southern Illinois. Live here. Do you like your teaching so far?

For history that is just lying around at your feet or staring out at you from the walls, come to Sultanahmet. I live in the middle of it and will a) buy you a drink and b) take you for a short walk aound history -- over 1500 years as you require.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!

And please, just because we're from the Oz-hio, doesn't mean we don't know what the rest of the world means by "football!"

Just trying to adapt my language :D

Verjen,

I have an observation about Indiana from when I drove down the I75(?) on my way from Michigan to Tennessee. I have never seen so many crosses and churches next to the highway and also so many pr0n stores.

Also one billboard in Indiana scarred me and still scares me to this day. Again the side of the I75 the size of the billboard I saw first had the Ten Commandments on it but it was the other side that I saw in my rear view mirror that scarred me. In huge red letters was written "HELL IS REAL"

I don't know where I was when the Toledo discussion was going on, how did I miss that?

John Denver once wrote a song that goes "Being in Toledo on a Saturday Night is Like Being No Place at All..."

Not kidding. Get it on itunes.

In spite of that, it's a pretty ok place. After all, *I* came from there and I'm not to crazy... am I?

But as Drew Carey says, "Cleveland rocks!"

Hey, do you happen to know Laurie Vapenik from Parma Heights (I think that was her burb) who majored in Spanish at UT in the mid 90s? (it's a long shot, but some old classmates and I were just talking about her yesterday, and stranger things happen every day in Istanbul)

Seggiest -- ah yes the billboard in Indana might have been referring to my years of teaching freshman composition to slack-mouthed youth at Ball State University. Now, THAT is Scary.[/quote]
