Hello - Essex Guy in Sisli, Istanbul
Hello everyone,
Well I have been in Istanbul for a couple of months and finally got round to seeing what is happening in this city and who is around, now that I'm a bit settled.
I'm living in Sisli, close to Cevahir Shopping Centre. Here for two years as an office slave in a Bank. Enjoying it so far.
Go to the gym and swimming to try and keep fit whilst eating so much great food while here.
Hope to chat to some of you soon.
Cheers,
Glyn.

Welcome, Glyn!
While I live and work in the "old city" of Sultanahmet, I do get out to Sisli now and then -- especially on Saturdays. Mayhap we can meet sometime. I do some shopping at the Cevahir Shopping Centre as I know its Migros has garlic powder which I need for my restaurant.
What bank do you slave for?

Welcome Glyn! Looks like you've settled in ok. Look forward
to meeting you at one of the EiT events or another gathering.
How is Essex by the way? Long time since I was over that way...

Welcome to EIT Glyn. Does your employer have you chained to a desk then? Do you get time off for good behaviour?

Slaving in a bank and enjoying it so far. Must be the Glyn, the masochist from the UK. What else you enslave yourself for?

Wow, I log back on after a few days offline and see lots of responses. Thats for the great welcome everyone.
I work for HSBC, based in Esentepe but also spend some time in Levent (and just as much time in the wonderful traffic getting there and back).
In response to some of the comments:
Yeah, I'm a banker - There are a lot of them about!
Time off for good behaviour? - I'd never considered that. Perhaps I will behave at some point in the future and see if it gets me anywhere.
I went back to Essex over Christmas/New Year. However long it was that you last saw it, I'm sure it wouldn't have changed much. You know ... teenage chavs, covered in makeup and jewelry, wandering the streets, drunkenly stagering along whilst they push their prams full of their fatherless screaming children! I love it really.
I've seen a few posts refering to the EiT social events but couldn't find anything with details about what these functions are. What do you do? Where do you go? How many people are there etc.? (apologies if this has already been covered in another post that I've missed).
Thanks, once again, for the welcome and I hope to catch up with some of you soon.
Cheers.
