 Hello Forum
Hello forum, My name is Todd and I will be relocating to Turkey soon (from USA). Employment will be a top priority for me. If anyone has any advise, I would greatly appreciate it. Todd

Hi Todd and welcome. Where in the states are you from? What soert of work are you looking for? Charly has the best ears for the employment market so maybe you should give her a shout.

Damn........anyway I'll be nice and say, Welcome!
Re. jobs - I seem to hear of the odd one here and there, nothing exciting - just your standard lousy expat stuff - what do you want to do? Check out the job websites in the Employment section. Just been put in touch with a guy who gets teachers jobs (for a cut of course) if you are interested.

I'm from Atlanta. Married to a turk who wants to go back and work in her family's biz for awhile. I'm a lawyer, but I doubt there is much need for a bottomfeeder like me in Turkey. At first, I would just want something to put a little money in my pocket while I work on my Turkish, later on I would probably want to try something a little more career like. Am I going to be limited teaching ESOL at first? What kinds of jobs has anyone on the forum held? If you care to share your experience you can reply or email me at toddpass873 -at- yahoo

Hey Todd, welcome!
I have an american lawyer friend here who's working in a law firm. I'll ask her what the deal is. Also, partner of Herguner & Herguner has an American wife--they might be partial to having an american staffer. I'll ask around and get back to you (but give me a few weeks--I'm flaky and lazy, but eventually keep my word...)

If you want to work on your Turkish, there is no faster way than teaching TEFL to grades K-11. Did that for five months--it's not for everyone. However, it will give you a start. The only downfall is the English teaching market heavily slows down from around this time of year until September (for places like English Time as well as in schools/universities).
